About Ruhe

Ruhe is the moniker of multi-disciplinary artist Bryan Ruhe.
He currently resides in Vancouver, WA, fifteen minutes north of Portland, OR.

In both his audio and visual works, Ruhe combines hands-on skills and tactile mediums with digital tools and technologies to create visually and aurally affecting hybrids, blurring the lines between visual art, sound, technology, and personal experience.

Ruhe creates warm and fragile soundscapes using acoustic instruments, magnetic audio tape, sampled vinyl records and field recordings. Sometimes these very concrete sounds are given a new, abstracted context with the application of digital treatment and processing.

To date, he has released numerous short eps and and 3 full-length albums across multiple formats. These works have been released by labels such as the Audio Gourmet netlabel (UK), Cotton Goods (UK), Dauw (BE), Don't Be A Stranger Tapes + Netlabel (CA, USA), Eilean Rec. (FR), Unknown Tone Records (OK, USA), and Wist Rec. (IE).

Bryan is also a visual artist working across multiple mediums, including paint, collage, various forms of printmaking, photography, and alternative photo process.

My name is Bryan Ruhe. As a 2013 BA graduate of the Creative Media and Digital Culture (CMDC) program at Washington State University Vancouver, I have the command of various software and hardware tools, creative thinking skills, artistic talent, and teamwork abilities that are required for turning concepts into design realities.

My background in coding (HTML, CSS, jQuery) and extensive use of Adobe software combined with my involvement in music and the fine arts make me a versatile and well-rounded individual. I have made use of my skills to complete a variety of client projects and to create successful brands and graphic identities including my personal record label, Clothbound Recordings.

I currently reside in La Center, Washington, about thirty minutes north of Portland, Oregon.

My other interests include hybrid media, book binding, vinyl records, board games, hiking, and magnetic audio tape.
